This is an excellent reflection by one of my students on Project 1:
After an elongated process of thinking, writing, more thinking, and more writing, I finally was able to construct Project 1, a page about me. Although it seems like a simple and straightforward concept, this specific project required much thought and attention to detail. I first sorted out my ideas for this project after reading Gee’s article on Discourse, Lesner and Craig’s chapter on reading/writing skills, and Yancey’s text on reflection. I used the objectives of these texts and applied them to my life, thinking about my own Discourses and true identity. Once able to get a firm grasp on the content for the page, I started to look at genre conventions, not knowing where to start.
