Good student insight on Macrorie and Postman and Weingartner.

The Cooler themes are expensive

In Macrorie’s text Macrorie seems to be pushing that when educators give learners detailed instructions for projects the learners are not able to think creatively. Detailed instructions give the students a step by step process that they follow too easily, working like a drone rather than a self-aware human being.When I first read the Postman and Weingartner text I didn’t understand the message they were trying to point out. After reading it again and getting a second opinion I understood that they are trying to point out that the way schools are set up right now the students are learning to be able to recite information rather than retain it. It seems Postman and Weingartner are pushing for educators to give students the opportunity to think openly so that they can truly grow as people rather than just memorizing knowledge.
